Add A Self-Published Book to Your To-Read-List
The way books are published and purchased has drastically changed in recent years. Previously, writers had to find an agent, get accepted by a publisher, and jump through dozens of hoops before their book had a chance of seeing the bookstore shelf.
The Rise of Self-Publishing
Self-publishing allowed writers to pay to have their book printed — but it was up to them to sell them to bookstores. This functioned as a ‘pay to play’ system and was at best unattainable for many writers, and at worse a scam. Most often, writers ended up paying thousands of dollars for a few books they sold to friends and family.
Self-Publishing Today
Today, self-publishing is making it possible for anyone to write and publish their book — for better or worse. Self-publishing still gets a bad rap, and many readers stick to the best-seller lists.
Which sucks, because there are thousands of fantastic books being self-published by writers who simply don’t want to deal with publishers. We want to help change that.
